Synopsis:
Grace's life changed with a list. Left in the kitchen by her mother, Eileen, this innocuous 'To Do' list states, below bread, telephone bill and bins: 'Tell G I have ovarian cancer, probably terminal'.
Brought up in rural Ireland in the 1950s, Eileen's life has been ruled, in order, by the church, her husband and her child. She's had little time to think about herself.
But now time is running out. And Grace is determined to know everything about her mother before it's too late.
THE MIRACLE OF GRACE is a poignant, but ultimately uplifting, novel that reveals a unique relationship between a mother and her daughter.

My Thoughts:
It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of this authors. She has such a way with writing that I could read her books all day. This book had me reaching for the tissues. When Grace finds her mothers to do list, number 8 shocks her. I love how this author weaves the past and the present together between Grace's story and Eileen's story. You can't help but to fall in love with Eileen and the life she's had. Grace took a while for me to warm up to. Instead of sadness she turned to anger when she found out that her Mom was sick. I loved reading how Eileen grew up and how different the culture is now in Grace's coming of age. This is truly an amazing book that should be on everyone's shelf.
