Intense and inspiring, Fourteen is a coming-of-age adventure story about a young girl who comes into her own power, fights back against abuse, becomes an accomplished sailor, and falls in love with the ocean and the natural world. The outer voyage is a mirror of her inner journey--her goal is to find the strength to endure in a dangerous world, and difficult family.
My Thoughts:
What a honest, raw, beautiful book. A coming of age book about Leslie's life at sea on a boat with her abusive Father one minute and a lovable Father the next. This author kept my attention throughout the whole book and I couldn't stop reading till I finished it. One girls story of surviving a dysfunctional family. I honestly cant say enough good things about this book. If you've not read this book, I suggest you do so. Be prepared to finish it in one setting. Can't wait to read more from this author.
