My Thoughts:
I'm a huge fan of Sarah Dessen and this book was my favorite of all her books. I loved the characters and all the story lines. Sydney has basically been invisible to her family her whole life. Her brother, Peyton, was the star in the family. When Peyton gets in with the wrong crowd Sydney's world starts to change. Her brother just keeps getting in trouble until one night when he hits a boy on a bike under the influence of alcohol. It was the accident that changed her whole family and made her parents tighten the reins on Sydney. After discovering her family is having financial trouble Sydney volunteers to go to public school instead of her private. After the first day of school at her new school Sydney steps into a pizza place and there she meets people who "see" her. Meeting the Chatham family changes Sydney and she becomes her own person with her own opinions. It's truly Ms. Dessen at her finest.
