My Thoughts:
Anyone that follows my personal twitter account knows that I raved about The Pact back when I read it and I swore that I could never love a book by Karina Halle more than that one, well, the day has arrived that The Pact no longer ranks as number one. I freaking loved Racing the Sun! It could be because I was born in Italy (and I'm partial to anything that takes place there) but I loved Amber and Derio. I even had a soft spot for the kids. Amber has a degree, but instead of using it, she decided to travel. Her latest adventure has landed her in Capri and without enough money for a plane ticket back home. Desperate to find a job to get home she takes a job teaching English to two children, who are a little bratty, but given the circumstances, I'd be bratty too. The kids are being raced by Derio, an ex-motorcycle racer, who just happens to be their brother. Derio's parents were killed when a storm capsized their boat. Derio has issues and so does Amber, but they fit perfectly. Derio can really open up to her about things he's been holding in. In all honesty, I have no idea how Karina Halle can top this one, but I can't wait to read whatever she comes up with.
