Synopsis: Summer by the Sea is a beautiful, heart-warming summer read about sisters, first love and not always getting what we want – but sometimes ending up with exactly what we need.

They say there’s always one summer that changes you.

For Faith the one summer she can’t forget is when she fell in love as a teenager – only for her sister,Casey, to steal her man. Now, at the request of her beloved ninety-year-old Grandmother, Faith has agreed to a family holiday – at their childhood beach house, where it all began.
Faith hasn’t seen her sister in years but is finally ready to forgive and forget, enjoy the sunshine and relive happy memories. What she’s not ready for is meeting Jake Buchanan – the owner of the beach house – or the long-forgotten feelings he ignites in her.
Can Faith overcome the hurt of the past, rekindle the close bond she had with Casey and make this summer THE ONE to remember?

My Thoughts:  This was my first Jenny Hale book and while it started off a little slow for me, I eventually got into it and loved it. This is a story about letting go of the past  and wrong doings and realizing what's really important in life; Family. Sometimes our lives don't play out as we hoped they would, but for Faith, she got even more than she hoped for. This book follows Faith as she returns to North Carolina's Outer banks to spend 2 weeks celebrating her Nan's birthday. This is the first time in years that Faith, her Mother, her Nan, and her sister Casey, who she hasn't spoke to or seen in years, and Casey's daughter Isabella will all be under the same roof at the same time. Faith has resented her sister Casey since Casey stole the man Faith loved right from under her nose. There is a lot of resentment and hurt feelings between Faith and Casey. During the two weeks spent in the beach house Faith develops a close relationship with Jake Buchanan, the handy-man who is putting the finishing touches on the beach house and getting to know her adorable niece. She also learns that Casey and Scott,( the man Faith loved) are getting divorced, but it's not what Casey wants. While listening to Casey talk about how much she loves Scott, Faith realizes that she is over the past and ready to have a relationship with her sister again. Forgiveness, Sisterly bonds that can't be broken, Finding love. This book has it all, The perfect book to read in a beach chair.
