My Thoughts:
I know this book is about 5 years old, but it's a cute fun read. In honor of #RollBackWeek, this is my choice. Shannon Card really needs to make money for college. Her dad has lost his job and scholarships, loans, and grants won't even cover her first years tuition. Thinking that she needs to make a lot of money in a very short time, she procures a fake ID and fake birth certificate so she can work at a casino as a cocktail waitress. After her first shift has ended, Shannon finds a mysterious note in her locker telling her to meet someone in the hotel. Shannon automatically thinks they found out shes under age and that shes in trouble. After making her way to the hotel room she is accosted by a guy named Cole. Cole offers her an exclusive invite to join an underground poker society. Having never played poker before, Shannon abruptly turns Cole down. After finding out that her dads BMW is being repossessed and he is selling his boat, she decides she has no choice but to take Cole up on his offer. This book had such a good message about doing the right thing, no matter what the consequences are. This was not my first Lauren Barnholdt book and each and every one of her books are definitely worth reading.
