Synopsis:
Emily Wayborn is finally her own woman.
After a string of shameful relationships and reckless partying with her best friend Amber, she’s now a successful voiceover actress, her wild past and everyone in it firmly behind her. Until she receives a cryptic voicemail from her former friend that sends her spiraling into the darkness she thought she had outrun. One thing is clear from the message, Amber is in trouble.
Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that leads her to Reeve Sallis, a gorgeous and equally dangerous hotelier known for his power games and shady dealings. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must return to her playgirl ways to uncover his secrets and track down her friend. But as she becomes more entangled with him, she finds she's drawn to Reeve and his depravity despite her growing conviction that he may be the one responsible for Amber’ s disappearance.

My Thoughts:
Wow. Wow. Wow. If I could give this book a ten, I would! It was seriously that good. Everything about this book drew me in, the characters, the plot, and the great writing. I loved Emily and how far she has come from where she started and I loved her devotion to find her friend, Amber, even though they didn't leave things on good terms. Don't even get me started on the mysterious bad-boy Reeve, we will be here all day if I have to list everything I loved about him. I kept going back and forth on Reeve, I couldn't decide if he was bad or good. There's so much about him that we didn't find out till the end of the book.
Emily wasn't supposed to fall in love, she was just going to sleep with Reeve until she found the information that she needed to find Amber, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I have to give Emily credit, she fought the feelings for Reeve better than I would have. She was a very diabolical character, she had a vulnerable side and horrible things that happened to her in the past, but she's also really strong. She has goals and she keeps pushing towards them. This book is full of games and tests that the characters put each other through. I seriously could not put this book down. It does end at a very inconvenient place, I really can't wait till the second book comes out. This is one book you'll really want to read.

COMING APART AT THE SEAMS
Riley O'Brien & Co #2
Jenna Sutton
Releasing Dec 1st, 2015
Berkley

Love can take some time to break in...

Teagan O’Brien, heiress to the Riley O’Brien & Co. denim empire, is anything but a spoiled rich girl. She’s worked hard to secure her place in the family business and can hold her own, in and out of the office. Only one man has ever been able to get under her skin—sexy football star Nick Priest. Years ago they crossed the line from friends to lovers, but he left her heartbroken. Since then, she’s been determined to keep him at arm’s length—no matter how tempting he looks in his jeans...

Nick has fortune, fame, and looks that make most women hot and bothered. But he doesn't have the woman he really wants. He knows he screwed up when he walked away from Teagan, and now that he has a second chance, he’ll do whatever it takes to win her over—no matter how tongue-tied he gets...

My Thoughts:
I really like Jenna Sutton as an author and I love this series so far. Teagan and Nick were together years ago, but Nick broke her heart into a million pieces and now Teagan wants nothing to do with him. Rightfully so, I might add. Nick is back and working at the same company and all he want's is a second chance with Teagan. I loved Nick, yes, he had some flaws, but he was adorably perfect to me. Teagan was another favorite. Her take charge attitude and the way she just gets Nick, was spot on. I've read the first book in this series and so far, this is my favorite. You won't regret reading Nick and Teagan's story.

Mini Review: Christmas in Vermont by Bryan Mooney

Christmas in Vermont by Bryan Mooney
Release Date: October 20, 2015
Publisher: Lake Union Publishing
My rating: 3
Buy here: Amazon

Synopsis:
In the small town of Woodstock, Vermont, Christmas means white snow and warm traditions. For ex-Marine Jack Reynolds, it’s a chance to visit home and sort out his life. He’s engaged but unhappy, his brother is missing in action, and he often thinks about Hope, the beautiful teacher who helped him survive an attack in Iraq before disappearing. Unbeknownst to Jack, Hope is in Woodstock, having sworn to visit the hometown of the man who saved her life.
A chance encounter brings Jack and Hope together once more, and they instantly feel the same deep connection that sustained them in Iraq. When a long-lost bag of Christmas cards is discovered at the local post office, the pair sets out to deliver them. As the letters bring joy around Woodstock, Jack and Hope grow closer—but misunderstandings and uncertainty come between them. Can the cozy town’s Christmas spirit help them find the courage to follow their hearts?

My Thoughts:
This book grabbed me from the beginning. It started off with Hope running from terrorists through the school and Jack trying to save her and then the explosion where they both get caught under the rumble. I'm not going to lie. I teared up at this part.
Hope remembers Jack talking about the town he was from, so she sets off to find a job in Woodstock. After the organization Jack was working for in NY shuts down, he returns to Woodstock for his uncle's retirement party. That's where he runs into Hope. I really loved the letters they delivered from a year ago that the post office lost and just now found. These letters all came at the perfect time for the loved ones. The letters brought peace and hope and it was absolutely beautiful.
I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Blog tour: The secrets we kept by Lily Velez

Book & Author details:

The Secrets We Kept by Lily Velez
Publication date: November 8th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Synopsis:
One year. That’s how long it’s been since childhood sweethearts Sully Graham and Cadence Gilbertson broke up, since one adoption and one out-of-state move turned their worlds upside down.
Suddenly, Cadence is back in New York City, but something’s different about her. The light in her eyes, the music in her laughter, the warmth in her smile—all of those things have entirely vanished. In their place stand the makings of a girl Sully can’t even begin to recognize, much less understand.
Still, despite the collective history of heartbreak between them, he’s convinced he can win her trust again, and he’s committed to proving the invincibility of their love no matter what it takes.
But Cadence is quietly harboring secrets of her own. Dark secrets. Ugly secrets. Secrets that could break a person. And though broken herself and unbearably lonely, she’s determined to protect Sully from her terrible, biting truths. Even if it means locking him out of her life forever.
The only problem is it seems her heart hasn’t quite received the memo. One glimpse of him is all it takes for her to trip into familiar (and, she’ll admit, addictive) feelings that threaten to all but consume her. Now her biggest fear is that her secrets will begin to slowly unravel one by one…long before Sully’s resolve ever does.
The Secrets We Kept is a moving story about first love, friendship, and forgiveness, and the enduring bonds that forever connect us and give us our strength.

EXCERPT:
Sully still remembered the first time that he saw Cadence. It was a sweltering summer that year. Push-cart ice cream vendors roamed the neighborhood blocks like soldiers on patrol, circling playgrounds and community swimming pools. It was common to see people pop open fire hydrants like champagne bottles, children dancing in the shoots of water as miniature rainbows reflected off the asphalt.
Sully and his brother, twelve and ten years old at the time, were living with the Petersons back then along with a tribe of foster siblings. Ol’ Man Peterson was a Vietnam vet with PTSD and a short-fuse temper that exploded so quickly, it was like his personality had a gas leak. Usually, maintaining a thirty-foot distance from the man at all times was insurance against his drunken rampages. His military pedigree had bred in him a no-nonsense adherence to hard work and, where appropriate, hard discipline—both of which were far less easy to escape.
The hard work in particular manifested in the Peterson prison as an endless checklist of chores (otherwise known as “slave labor” in the Spencer Graham lexicon), the completion or lack thereof of which determined whether or not you ate dinner that night. Additionally, each child had to fulfill their assigned task in accordance with certain standards, and as Ol’ Man Peterson was an uncompromising perfectionist, one chore could go through three to five rounds before the man extended a grunt of approval.
The afternoon Cadence arrived, Sully and Spencer were attached to yard work. While the Peterson walk-up sat only a few yards from the curb, which meant there barely existed a lawn between the chain-link fence and the front door, Ol’ Man Peterson preferred his grass cut to an exact height. It was taking painstaking precision to perfect his science.
Spencer lay on his stomach with a see-through ruler to measure the blades of grass. “I think you cut this side of the walkway too short.”
Sully rested a broom atop his shoulders, arms draping over it like a scarecrow. “It’s way too hot to even care, dude.”
“I care because I want to see the new Adam Sandler, movie and I’m not about to get grounded for another weekend.”
“How many times have I been grounded because of you?”
Spencer stood. “Whatever. I’m taking over sweeping duty.” He stretched out a hand to receive the broom, but Sully’s gaze had already shifted to a royal blue SUV parking alongside the curb. A woman emerged from the driver’s side. She came around to open the backseat door closest to the Peterson home. Two ballet flats appeared from under the door, reaching for the street. When the woman closed the door, a girl who looked to be Sully’s age or slightly younger stood with her, hands bracketed to the straps of her backpack and her bottom lip caught softly under her front teeth.
Spencer snapped in Sully’s face. “Hellooo? Earth to Sully.” Sully nodded toward the two, and when Spencer turned and saw them, he said, “Uh oh. Another casualty.”
The woman, clearly the girl’s caseworker, greeted the boys with a cheery “working hard?” before continuing up the walkway with her charge. Sully waited for the girl to look his way, and when she finally did, he offered her a soft, barely-there smile by way of hello. Part greeting, part commiseration. She instantly looked away.
They discovered her name only because she was sharing a bunk-bed with their friend Novah. “Cadence Livingston,” she told them. “She’s been in the system for a few years. She doesn’t talk much. Or at all. Those are the only things I was able to get from her. She’s probably halfway to being a mute.”
“I wish Spencer was a mute,” Sully muttered.

“Ha ha,” Spencer said. “You’re so funny. Absolutely hilarious. How did I get so lucky to have a brother like you?” Then he excused himself to see about fixing the eyesore Sully had made of the front lawn and left Sully fixated on the enigma of the quiet and elusive Cadence Livingston.

Review: Winter Stroll by Elin Hilderbrand

Winter Stroll by Elin Hilderbrand
Release Date: October 13, 2015
Publisher: Little brown and company
My rating: 4
Buy here: Amazon

Synopsis:
Happy Holidays 2015! It has been a rough year for the Quinns, but I would like to start by saying thank you for all of the well wishes and positive missives sent our way."

Another Christmas on Nantucket finds Winter Street Inn owner Kelley Quinn reflecting on the past year as he writes a holiday letter to friends and family. Though the year has had its share of misfortune and worry, the Quinns have much to celebrate. Kelley, now single, at least is on better terms with his first wife Margaret, who is using her celebrity to lure customers to the inn in record numbers. Their son Kevin has a beautiful new baby, Genevieve, with the Inn's French housekeeper, Isabelle; and their daughter, Ava, is finally dating a nice guy--her devoted colleague, Scott.

Now the Quinns are looking forward to celebrating Genevieve's baptism, welcoming Isabelle to the family, and enjoying the cheer of Nantucket's traditional Christmas Stroll. But just when a peaceful family gathering seems within reach, Kelley's estranged second wife, Mitzi, shows up on the island after souring on her relationship with the inn's former Santa Claus. Soon Kelley isn't the only Quinn entertaining a surprise guest from Christmases past as lovers old and new gather beneath the mistletoe. With jealousy, passion, and eggnog consumption at an all-time high, it's going to take a whole lot more than a Christmas miracle to get the Quinns--and the inn--through the holidays intact.

My Thoughts:
This book picks up a year after we left the Quinns. So, it's now a year later and many, many things have changed. Relationships have fell apart and new ones have blossomed. Elin Hilderbrand is one of the only authors, in my opinion, that can pull off multiple POV's successfully. Each POV is different, but they all weave together so we get the whole story and not just bits and pieces
The whole family is back in Nantucket to celebrate Christmas and the new baby's baptism. There's not much I can without giving some things away. Once again, this book left us with a small cliffy. I really don't mind though because Ms. Hilderbrand's books are always worth waiting for.

But Jack Frost has other plans, and soon Faith and Connor are snowbound in a winter wonderland with only the sparks flying between them to keep them warm. As one hot kiss leads to another, they'll have to decide if they're ready to give each other the best gift of all-love.

"Everything I love in a romance."
--- Lori Foster, 2014

My Thoughts:
I love Jessica Lemmon and this bad boy series is amazing. I absolutely loved Faith and Connor, their chemistry was off the charts sizzling. Right from the beginning I loved Connors protectiveness over Faith. The way he stayed at her apartment to keep her safe. You couldn't help but to feel sorry for Faith, from her childhood to her cheating fiance. It especially broke my heart when all she wanted was a big family Christmas or any Holiday for that matter. Connor's family provided exactly what Faith has been missing her whole life. I really enjoyed the sisters in the attic thing.
It was kind of a slow burn leading up to sexy-times, and it was perfect. Ms. Lemmon can do no wrong in these books.

Her Best Shot
With college graduation looming, three childhood friends vow to make spring break their last blast of pure fun. But at least one of them didn’t count on such incredible heat…

Layla Sharpe is definitely more math ninja than bikini babe, and her future has been calculated with razor precision. Convinced to let loose over spring break, Layla is finally ready to party—until her car breaks down halfway to her destination, leaving her stranded in Georgia with a mouthwateringly hot pool shark. She knows more than enough about angles to learn the game, but this week she wants him to appreciate her curves…

Phin Marks has never met a girl like Layla. She’s more Star Wars geek than seductress, and when he offers her a place to stay while her car is in the shop, he’s counting on the attraction between them to set the nights ablaze, no strings attached. But every moment he spends with Layla makes it harder to let her go. Can he persuade her to gamble in the most dangerous way possible…on forever?

Her Perfect Game
Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn’t quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she’s entering a “hackfest” over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who’s been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can’t fight the desire that comes rushing back.

Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they’re face to face again, he doesn’t know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he’s offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?

Her Winning Formula
Spring break was supposed to be a last blast of fun for three friends before the reality of adulthood set in. But for the trio’s science whiz, it’s an education in instant attraction…

Chemistry major Felicity Stone can tell you everything about the way chemicals interact, but when it comes to social interaction, she needs schooling. Abandoned by her friends, Felicity is faced with spending spring break alone—unless she accepts a gorgeous stranger’s invitation to pose as his girlfriend at a family wedding. Not one to turn down a research opportunity, Felicity never expected it to produce such breathtaking results…

Teacher and baseball coach Lucas Tanner is fascinated by Felicity’s potent mix of spirit and scientist, not to mention her delicious curves. When Felicity asks him to return the favor by teaching her how to pick up guys, he can’t refuse—but he’s not at all happy with the idea of her using a formula for flirting on anyone but him. Can he convince her that together they have the perfect chemistry?

My Thoughts:
I'm a huge fan of Susan Mallery, I literally have every single one of her books. I especially look forward to the Christmas books she puts out. There's always just something magical about them and her characters.
Molly has always had a crush on her older sister's boyfriend, so when her sister marries someone else, Dylan leaves town and leaves Molly with a ring that was supposed to be her sister's engagement ring. He tells her that when she gets older and wants an adventure to come find him and give him the ring. Fast forward many years and Molly is ready for that adventure. Dylan has transformed from the boy with nothing to the man with everything. He now has a very successful and lucrative business and is in talks to sell the company for a small fortune.
I really loved Dylan and Molly, I've read tons of book and this couple still stands out in my mind. I loved reading about Dylan's attraction to Molly intensify, and for him to realize that he had feelings for he. He was such a lovable bad-ass. My heart went out to Molly, especially after the week she had. She was such an incredibly strong character. Not to mention the chemistry between these two was off the charts. This was truly a gem of a book.

"I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.
Taking after my mother, I've always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.
For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who both graduated this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.
Currently I am writing five series of books- The Last Riders, The VIP Room, Predators MC, Biker Bitches, and The Dark Souls.
All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.”
