Review: Come away with me by Karma Brown

Come away with me by Karma Brown
Release Date: August 25, 2015
Publisher: Mira
My rating: 4
Buy here: Amazon

Synopsis:
An unexpected journey leads one woman to discover that life after loss is possible, if only you can find the courage to let go…

One minute, Tegan Lawson has everything she could hope for: an adoring husband, Gabe, and a baby on the way. The next, a patch of black ice causes a devastating accident that will change her life in ways she never could have imagined.

Tegan is consumed by grief—not to mention her anger toward Gabe, who was driving on the night of the crash. But just when she thinks she's hit rock bottom, Gabe reminds her of their Jar of Spontaneity, a collection of their dream destinations and experiences, and so begins an adventure of a lifetime.

From the bustling markets of Thailand to the flavors of Italy to the ocean waves in Hawaii, Tegan and Gabe embark on a journey to escape the tragedy and search for forgiveness. But they soon learn that grief follows you no matter how far away you run, and that acceptance comes when you least expect it. Heartbreaking, hopeful and utterly transporting, Come Away with Me is an unforgettable debut and a luminous celebration of the strength of the human spirit.

My Thoughts:
This book y'all. I don't even have words for it. I'm so frustrated with this book because it tricked me and I felt betrayed and I had to put the book down to collect myself. I pride myself on being awesome at picking up on plot twists. This plot twist came out of nowhere and smacked me right in the face. Don't get me wrong, I really, really loved this book. It was so good that I didn't see the ending coming,AT.ALL!!!  Throughout the whole book I was rooting for Tegan and Gabe, because they were just so in love that I was praying they would find a way to get passed everything and heal together and move on with their lives. Ha. Jokes on me.
I can not say enough good things about this author though. The way she wrote about these countries and the sites, it felt like I was right there and was seeing what Tegan was seeing. I even teared up a couple times while reading about her struggles. Tegan was so young and to have those awful things happen to her is just a travesty.I admire Tegan for finally finding the strength to let go and let herself heal.
I finished this book on Saturday and I have already pimped it out and lent it to my aunt who has already finished it as well. This is a book that will stay with me for a long time, and Tegan is a character who will be in my heart for even longer. I can't really say much without giving away the face-smacker of an ending. but have faith in me and buy this book. Then come back here and we can commiserate together.

Review: Losing the Light by Andrea Dunlop

Losing the Light by Andrea Dunlop
Release date: February 23, 2016
Publisher: Washington Square Press
My Rating: 4
Buy here: Amazon

Synopsis:
“It has art, scandal, and hot French men set against a destination backdrop. Yes, please.” (Redbook)

A smart, obsessive debut novel about a young woman studying abroad who becomes caught up in a seductive French world—and a complex web of love and lust.

When thirty-year-old Brooke Thompson unexpectedly runs into a man from her past, she’s plunged headlong into memories she’s long tried to forget about the year she spent in France following a disastrous affair with a professor.

As a newly arrived exchange student in the picturesque city of Nantes, young Brooke develops a deep and complicated friendship with Sophie, a fellow American and stunning blonde, whose golden girl façade hides a precarious emotional fragility. Sophie and Brooke soon become inseparable and find themselves intoxicated by their new surroundings—and each other.

But their lives are forever changed when they meet a sly, stylish French student, Veronique, and her impossibly sexy older cousin, Alex. The cousins draw Sophie and Brooke into an irresistible world of art, money, decadence, and ultimately, a disastrous love triangle that consumes them both. And of the two of them, only one will make it home.

My Thoughts:
This book was ridiculously good. I was drawn into a whole other world while reading. I actually felt like I was there with Brooke and Sophie. It was a very seductive, mysterious, and enchanting world The author did an amazing job with all the characters. The book was in Brooke's POV and I couldn't help but to feel bad for her, she was completely out of her comfort zone and I think Alex and Sophie kind of took advantage of that. While the book never came right out and said it, but I think Sophie manipulated a lot of the situations between herself, Brooke and Alex. I'm pretty sure Alex wasn't innocent either, but I can just chalk that up to him being French. Having been to France multiple times, I can attest to the fact that it is so easy to get swept up in the French culture and that whole seductive lifestyle. I keep questioning what would happen if Brooke used the ticket Sophie sent her and went back to France. Would the ending still be the same? This was one of the best debut books I have read in a long time and I can't wait to see whats next for this author.

CUFF ME
New York's Finest #3
Lauren Layne
Releasing on March 29th, 2016
Forever: Grand Central

Vincent knows he's not the most charming of the Moretti brothers. He prefers brooding to flirting, reading to talking, and he sure as hell isn't about to give into his mother's insistence that he 'settle down with a nice girl.' Luckily, Vincent's gig as one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives keeps him busy. As does his long-time partner, Jill Henley–a tough-as-nails cop with the face of an angel and smart mouth that makes Vincent crazy in all the worst ways.

After six years of working the homicide beat with the tight-lipped Vincent Moretti, Jill figure she knows him better than anyone. Which is not at all. But when their most recent case points to a potential serial-killer situation, the higher-ups send them on a rare undercover mission to a place no NYPD officer dares go: the Upper Eastside.

Now the bureau's most antagonistic set of partners is posing as Mr. and Mrs. Brooks of Park Avenue. Spending 24/7 in the suspect's territory brings them closer and closer to their killer . . . and closer to each other. Soon Vincent and Jill are playing good cop/bad cop in and out of bed, and Jill's falling hard. But can she convince Vincent to give her a shot as partner in life, as well as at the bureau?

My Thoughts:
The Moretti's have to be my favorite fictional family and this series is one of my favs. I can't say enough good things about these characters. I love each and every single one of them. I was so happy to finally read Vincent's story and find out what really makes him tick. It was pretty obvious from the start that him and Jill belonged together, but sometimes you just need that right push at the right time, and Jill coming back engaged was the perfect push for Vin. As the saying goes," you don't know what you got till its gone", is very true. I love a bad-ass character as much as the next person, but I also like a little mush with my character and Lauren Layne provided that in Vincent. Jill was such a sweet character, I feel like if she was real, we would totally be best friends. I'm really hoping that this isn't the end of this series. I would love to see a book featuring Elena and even Marco. Until then, you can read my reviews for Frisk me and Steal me.

Review: Walk the edge by Katie McGarry

Walk the Edge - Tour banner

One moment...

That’s all it takes to change your life.

What happens when your entire future is on the line because of one reckless moment? This is what Breanna Miller and Thomas “Razor” Turner have to face in Katie McGarry’s WALK THE EDGE. Blackmail, family secrets, future plans on the verge of collapsing, two people who aren’t supposed to be together fall in love, and the power of social media in defining who you are when you’re not even sure who that person is yet…Join the Club and and immerse yourself in the world of the Reign of Terror. Pick up WALK THE EDGE today!

Walk the Edge - cover

One moment of recklessness will change their worlds

Smart. Responsible. That's seventeen-year-old Breanna's role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyberbully's line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas "Razor" Turner into her life.

Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don't belong. But when he learns she's being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it's time to step outside the rules.

And so they make a pact: he'll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she'll help him seek answers to the mystery that's haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

My Thoughts:
I'm pretty sure that I have read every single Katie McGarry book there is, I'm also pretty confident that you can find all of her books on one of my shelves. Each time I read one of her books I think to myself that there's just no way it can get any better than this. When I first read "Nowhere but here", I was convinced that I would never love the other books in this series as much as I loved Oz and Emily, I was even a little reluctant to read this book, I just knew that Razor and Breanna's story would never be as good as Oz and Em. I should have known better. This book was SO GOOD!!! To me, it felt like this book went a lot deeper with Razor and Bre. Both of these characters had so much guilt, pain and they were both looking for someone to see them as they were. Razor is the strong silent type of guy that keeps all his feelings to himself. I even got a little weepy when he finally let out what he's been holding on to all these years. Breanna was such a beautiful character being suffocated by her parents and the responsibilites they put on her, she was kind of up on a different level than her siblings. Throughout the book, these characters grow so much and they finally become who they truly are. I honestly can't say enough good things about this book. There's always a little mystery in these books and my favorite part is when I get to the end and everything just comes together. This is the kind of book where I want an ebook version and the paper version. I'm greedy like that. If you missed my review of Nowhere but here, you can read that here.

Review: Ignite by Karen Erickson

My Thoughts:
This is the first book that I have read from this author, and I have to say I really loved this book. I'm a sucker for a firefighter (who isn't?) West was just adorable and I loved Harper. It was obvious that these two had some seriously hot chemistry, they also had some unresolved issues to work through. This book was about second chances and kind of writing a wrong from the past. You can't help but to love these two. I can not wait for the next book in this sizzling series. Read the book and thank me later. I accept cupcakes of any kind as thanks :)

Review: The Total Package by Stephanie Evanovich

Enter to Win a Hardcover copy of
THE TOTAL PACKAGE

THE TOTAL PACKAGE
Stephanie Evanovich
Releasing March 15th, 2016
William Morrow

Smart and sexy Dani Carr knows as much about football as any man--maybe more. It’s always been her dream to make a living talking about the game she loves. But Dani’s not interested in being just the usual eye-candy sideline reporter; she wants to be the first woman analyst on a pre-game show, the ultimate in exclusive boys-club jobs. And it turns out, that despite the odds, she has the talent to get her there.

Star quarterback-and heartthrob--Tyson Palmer always did things in spectacular fashion, including ruining his career after debuting as a first-round draft pick. When the head coach of the Austin Mavericks refuses to let him waste his million dollar arm, Tyson makes a Hail Mary pass at redemption and succeeds with everyone…except Dani, who appears to be using her high-profile commentator job to make a name for herself at his expense.

Dani refuses to let anyone forget about Tyson’s transgressions….and for good reason. There’s history between these two, sizzling history that dates back to their college days, and it ended in another spectacular flame-out of Tyson’s. He’s conveniently forgotten all about that episode because Dani is no longer the cute girl next door he barely remembers--she’s a bombshell with huge ratings and a long memory.

But can a woman trying to claw her way to the top and a quarterback who knows all about rock bottom make it to the Super Bowl without destroying each other in the process? And what will happen when Tyson-riding high on his career comeback-realizes he needs to make an even more important comeback with Dani?

My Thoughts:
I have been a fan of Stephanie Evanovich since I read "Big Girl Panties", that was such a good book that I read it 3 times since its been published. The total package was everything that I've come to expect from Stephanie's books. I enjoyed Tyson so much! I loved how it started out with him hitting rock bottom and all the hard work he had to do to get himself healthy. I was also a fan of Dani's, she seen the good in Tyson even when he was at his lowest. Together, they were adorably cute. I also loved that Dani was a sports reporter, she was a strong character in a "mans world". I liked how the other characters from this authors books made an appearance and that we got to read about two special moments for each couple! It made the book even better. I can not wait to see what characters come along next!

Synopsis:
Anna Forster, in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease at only thirty-eight years old, knows that her family is doing what they believe to be best when they take her to Rosalind House, an assisted living facility. She also knows there's just one other resident her age, Luke. What she does not expect is the love that blossoms between her and Luke even as she resists her new life at Rosalind House. As her disease steals more and more of her memory, Anna fights to hold on to what she knows, including her relationship with Luke.
When Eve Bennett is suddenly thrust into the role of single mother she finds herself putting her culinary training to use at Rosalind house. When she meets Anna and Luke she is moved by the bond the pair has forged. But when a tragic incident leads Anna's and Luke's families to separate them, Eve finds herself questioning what she is willing to risk to help them.

My Thoughts:
Wow. What an emotional, heart-wrenching read. This was the first book by this author that I've read, and I have to say, I'm hooked. I literally felt like I was a character in this book. Anna and Luke's story was so sweet that it brought tears to my eyes. I can't imagine going through what Anna is going through, especially at such a young age. She showed so much bravery and strength. The only thing that would have made this book better would have been if we had more of Luke's story, I felt like we just got the glossed over parts of him. That's just my opinion though. While reading I couldn't help but to feel sad for everyone going through this awful disease and their family members. I honestly can't recommend this book enough. I've already passed it along to a few friends and they've loved it as well.

Review: Russian Tattoos by Kat Shehata

Book & Author Details:

Russian Tattoos – Obsession by Kat Shehata
Published by: Limitless Publishing
Publication date: January 12th 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense

Synopsis:
Falling in love isn’t a crime—but falling in love with a Russian mob boss could be deadly.
Competitive tennis player Carter Cook wants a taste of freedom. Her overprotective father monitors every aspect of her life, so when he becomes employed by Vladimir Ivanov –a sexy Russian with an array of tattoos and an accent that weakens her knees—a taste of danger is within Carter’s grasp. Behind her father’s back, she enjoys spending time with Vladimir at his lavish estate. But is he really the upstanding businessman she believes him to be?
Vladimir Ivanov—godfather of a Russian mafia crime ring.
Vladimir spent five years of his life in a Siberian prison camp and has earned every tattoo inked into his skin. He is a powerful man who gets what he wants, and after stalking the gorgeous tennis player for years—he wants Carter. A little charm melts her heart, and behind the scenes, he orders his henchman to track her every move.
He’s a tattooed stick of dynamite ready to blow at the slightest spark.
As their romance reaches deadly levels, Carter senses something’s not right. When she’s lured into a compromising position at the hands of a shady European drug dealer, she calls in Boris, Vladimir’s right hand man, to rescue her—without telling Vladimir. With his authority questioned, he sets out to teach Carter a lesson about loyalty she’ll never forget.
When Carter realizes she’s in too deep, she must fight for her freedom before the attraction turns fatal. But the Russian mafia plays for keeps, and Vladimir’s fierce lust to possess her spirals their romance out of control.

My Thoughts:
I know I have said this before, but I'll say it again; I love mafia books! Add that to my fascination with all things Russian and you have the perfect book for me. This book was filled with everything deceitful and I loved every word, I seriously can't wait to get the next book. I really felt bad for Carter at times, it was almost like Vladimir stalked her. It was kinda creepy. Carter was easy for me to figure out, but Vladimir threw me for a loop, I couldn't quite understand him. It was almost like he had split personalities. If you love mob books and dangerous sexy Russians, you'll love this book!! I can't wait to find out what happens next.
